Well I spent most of my adult life creating Fashion forward pieces. So when I could not find a handbag that screamed at me,I decided to open a store where I could find such a item.That was within the relm of most handbag divas pocket book.
Now just about 7 months into my new business venture and the thirst to create is even more overwhelming.
I spent about 4 months scanning the Globe for brands and Designs that I couldn't find in my City. Succesful to some extent.................... Let me explain.
You may say-................................problem solved but not quite.
There were no really funky handbag stores here, in my eyes, and I'm finding out that there aren't very many risk takers when it comes to style either. In this city anyway.
I live in Edmonton Canada, not a Fashion capital buy any means.
When I go out, I always got compliments on my handbags. Some I made others I found, at thrift stores or ................wherever, a few I actually bought new but they didn't go out until I did a little tweeking. Dylon, glue,Fabric paint and Rhrinestone ...................my best friends.
Ding Ding bells go off ......I will open a store that was filled with my style!
Coming from the Caribbean, bright,loud,outrageous handbags were a norm and.. expected even.
I did tone down my style somewhat by the time I opened the store for fear of scaring the sheltered not so Fashion forward Edmonton shopper.
I have managed to trick curious onlookers and a few shoppers into believing that my store is main stream. By that I mean- I've aquired some Vintage Gucci,Furla,Snake skins and Crocodile handbags from a supplier in Rome. Amongst a few other brands.
Recognizable brands are what people like to see...............Um ...I dissagree, because when I shop I look the other way.
So amongst it all...my Watches that are now bracelets and my wild handbags with my extreemly chunky Necklaces that I made myself all from recycled material ..................................... are here to stay.
Keep watching for eye popping, attention grabbing handbags that's doesn't include the letters LV.
